Designergatan is a design studio located right in the heart of the historical design district in Helsinki, Finland. We are dedicated to help our clients, nationwide and international, run a successful digital service with an emphasis in user-centered design.

Founded in 2002, with its roots already in the late 1990’s. Designergatan has experienced how the digital landscape has evolved throughout the years. Technology has progressed, trends have come and gone but one thing has been constant.

The user, the human.

Over the years, we have experienced – both first-hand and second-hand – how demanding a task proficient user-centered design is. We have become familiar with complex task-oriented digital services that have to be efficient and user-friendly.

Our mission is not to be the biggest or fastest. Design is our dedication.

Research shows that user-centered design helps businesses thrive. However, good design requires effort and specialization. That is why Designergatan was founded.

We are a design studio with a stable financial foundation. Everything has been built on successful, long-term client relationships. We are a fully self-sufficient business and proud of what has been accomplished.

We are well aware of the challenges in running a successful digital service. It is a complex anatomy – managing business, technology and projects all at once. In all of this complexity, competent design management might often be too laborious.

Therefore we exist.

Designergatan is a dedicated design studio with a razor sharp focus on user-centered design; to shape modern, efficient, visually attractive and user-friendly digital services for our clients. It requires dedication to do this proficiently. We have built an infrastructure with core principles to accomplish this purpose. These principles include building an ideal environment for design to thrive as well as continuously learning, collaborating and networking with partners that share similar values.

Our virtual team

As a modern 21st century studio, we don’t all work in the same building (or even live in the same countries), but we bring the best talent together for every project.

For each and every project, we use the right experts for its specific needs. These are experts we've worked with before. They can be freelancers, entrepreneurs or businesses.

We believe this is a new and an alternative way to build a world-class team.

Meet the founder

Our founder Herman Talvitie is the person you will speak to if you pick up the phone. He will be the the one to steer your project.

He has been turning ideas into digital experiences since he was a teenager in the 90s, back in the early days of the internet. His explorations in the world of visuality started even earlier, if you count all the architectural sketches and graphic design he did as a child.

During his career he has worked as a teacher in visual and digital design, and as a designer for various companies; most prominent are the video mobile gaming company Rovio Entertainment and the advertising agency TBWA.

Based in Finland, he leads our virtual team working from his studio, fueled by tea and Island Bakery biscuits.
